You got trained in protocols.
Nobody trained you for what happens between you and the client.
Ethics goes beyond laws and guidelines. When a client is in a non-ordinary state of consciousness, wide open, profoundly vulnerable, looking at you like you hold the answers, the rulebook disappears. What’s left is the relationship. And that’s where ethical development actually lives.
A client develops feelings for you during a session. You feel something too, and the ethical frameworks you memorized have nothing to say about what to do with your own body in that moment.
You’re carrying sessions home because you can’t tell where the client’s process ends and yours begins. The power differential is real, but nobody taught you how to feel it in real time.
A colleague’s practice concerns you. You don’t know if you’re being protective or projecting. There’s no framework for raising it, and no peer structure to process it in.
You’ve checked all the boxes. And you still walk into the next session with the same unexamined triggers, the same blind spots, the same gap between the code of ethics on the wall and the ethics you actually practice.
This course exists to close the gap that codes of conduct were never designed to fill.

The foundation everything else builds on.
Ethics 101 is the entry point to the InnerEthics® framework: a relational approach to ethical practice developed by Kylea Taylor over three decades of work with psychedelic and transpersonal communities. This isn’t compliance training. It’s an invitation to examine the internal dynamics that shape every therapeutic relationship you hold.
Ethics as Relational Practice
Why trustworthiness forms the foundation of ethical work. How internal motivations and self-awareness create (or erode) the therapeutic container, especially when clients are in profound states of consciousness.
Right Relationship & Right Conditions
What “right relationship” actually means when power differentials, vulnerability, and altered states are all present in the room, and the practical conditions that make healing possible versus harmful.
Recognizing Your Ethical Edges
The internal trigger management and self-inquiry tools that help you notice the moment before a boundary is crossed: the subtle signals most practitioners override until it’s too late.
The Inner Compass
Developing an embodied ethical awareness that complements behavioral ethics training. Something you carry into the room, alongside the codes that guide you there.
The training that completes your ethics education.
What Traditional Ethics Covers
The codes of conduct, liability frameworks, and behavioral guidelines that define professional standards.
What InnerEthics® Adds
The internal motivations, relational patterns, and unconscious dynamics that shape how you actually show up in session.
What Traditional Ethics Covers
Clear boundaries for what not to do.

“These tools allow examining ethical dilemmas as opportunities to grow: not just problems to avoid. It shifted how I think about every client interaction.”
PGN Member
“A whole new understanding of ethics is now embedded in me. This wasn’t information I learned: it was a perspective I internalized.”
PGN Member
“One of the best courses on ethics I’ve been part of. It made me realize how much personal bias shows up even when I’m in my provider role.”
PGN Member
“The work with non-ordinary states of consciousness brings specific new challenges and problems. Kylea Taylor’s book is a pioneering venture into these new territories, providing important guidelines for practitioners and students.”

- Integration coaches, harm-reduction workers, and ceremony holders who work with heightened vulnerability and want a rigorous ethical framework specific to the field.
- Researchers and physicians entering psychedelic-assisted therapy who need to understand relational ethics that clinical protocols don’t often emphasize sufficiently.
- Anyone who’s ever sat with a client and felt the gap between what they were trained for and what the room actually demanded, and who wants to learn how to fill that gap.

The People Behind the Curriculum

Kylea is an internationally recognized author and educator specializing in ethical practice in extraordinary states of consciousness. She is the founder of InnerEthics®, developed over three decades of work in psychedelic and transpersonal communities. The relational framework of InnerEthics® is at the heart of every PGN course. Kylea studied directly with Stanislav Grof and Christina Grof beginning in 1984, worked as a Senior Trainer in the Grof Transpersonal Training for a decade, and spent nine years on the staff of a residential substance abuse treatment center. She brings clinical depth and lived experience to everything she teaches. Her books on ethical awareness and peer consultation for psychedelic practitioners remain foundational texts in the field.
“I created InnerEthics® after seeing practitioners doing extraordinary work in situations of amplified relational complexity that call for ethical self-reflection beyond rules and guidelines. PGN has become a wonderful home for InnerEthics® where it can support ethical development as a living practice in community.”

I built the Psychedelic Guide Network because I kept meeting the same person everywhere: a brilliant, dedicated practitioner carrying impossible ethical weight, completely alone. No peer structure. No framework that fit. Just the code of ethics on the wall and the reality of what happens in the room.
Ethics 101 is the course I wish someone had handed me before my first psychedelic-assisted session. It’s built on Kylea Taylor’s InnerEthics® framework: the only relational ethics curriculum designed specifically for what we do. I offer it through PGN because I’ve lived the gap it fills.

How long does Ethics 101 take to complete?
About 2 hours of on-demand learning. It’s fully self-paced: complete it in one sitting or spread it across several days. Your progress saves automatically, and you have ongoing access to revisit the material.
Is this right for my license type?
The InnerEthics® curriculum is valuable for mental health professionals (psychologists, LCSWs, LPCCs, LEPs, LMFTs) and other practitioners seeking ethical training grounded in relational practice.
What if I want all 6 courses?
The Level 1 Certification bundle includes all 6 courses (Ethics 101–106) for $389, saving $55 versus purchasing individually. You’ll see the bundle as an order bump at checkout. If you start with Ethics 101 alone, you can upgrade to the full bundle later for the price difference ($330).
Do I need any prior training or license?
No prerequisites. Ethics 101 is designed for anyone who works with clients in non-ordinary states of consciousness: licensed therapists, psychedelic guides, integration coaches, researchers, physicians, bodyworkers, ceremony holders. Whether you’re newly trained or have decades of experience, the material meets you where you are.
What’s the InnerEthics® framework?
InnerEthics® is a relational approach to ethical practice developed by Kylea Taylor. Instead of teaching behavioral rules (what not to do), it develops an internal ethical compass: self-awareness, trigger recognition, and the capacity to stay in right relationship with clients, especially in the heightened dynamics of psychedelic-assisted work. It’s been called “groundbreaking” by Jack Kornfield and “pioneering” by Stanislav Grof.
How is this different from the free Ethical Readiness Assessment?
The free Assessment is a mirror: seven scenarios that reveal where you stand. Ethics 101 is the curriculum: structured learning that builds on what the Assessment surfaces. Many practitioners take the Assessment first, receive their personalized Field Guide, and then enroll in Ethics 101 to go deeper. They’re designed to work together.
What format is the course?
On-demand video and written material, best experienced on a tablet or computer. Includes downloadable syllabi, reference documents, and knowledge checks throughout. You’ll take a brief assessment at the end to complete the course.
Your next session is coming.
What will you carry into it?
“Ethical development requires acknowledgement of all aspects of relationship. When we work with people in profound states of consciousness, the ethical stakes aren’t theoretical; they’re alive and in motion during every moment of the session.”
